The MD/CEO of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and governorship aspirant in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has denied romancing the Nigerian police for favour in the 2026 governorship election in the state.
In a statement by the coordinator of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji Media Fronts (AMBO Media Fronts), Adebayo Adedeji, on Wednesday, Oyebamiji dispelled the report in an online media that he had a closed-door meeting with one ACP Adekunle Ige, described as MOPOL 39 Commander, with the design to heat up the polity and give him an undue advantage at the poll.
“We write that the accusation by Sahara Reporters is false and is part of the grand plot to distract Asiwaju Oyebamiji from his lofty 2026 project of delivering the state from the doldrums it was plunged into by the clumsy government in Abeere.
“We equally sense that the power mongers have seen the 2026 defeat staring them in the face, thus preparing the ground for an excuse for the outcome of the failure awaiting them next year.
“In the last month, particularly after Oyebamiji declared his gubernatorial intention to oust Governor Ademola Adeleke from office, his personage has come under intense and viciously false attacks, a development affirming that AMBO truly is the most feared aspirant in Osun to dislodge the incumbent governor.
“However, we clarify that Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji did not meet the named police officer, or any officer for that matter, for any purpose or for the purpose of further breaching the fragile security architecture in the state or withdrawing the security details of the Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun as touted by the news outlet.
“It is glaring that the evil forces behind the smear campaign against Asiwaju Oyebamiji are those either being haunted by the cruelty of their immediate past or troubled by the towering profile of our political megastar whose resolve to set Osun loose from the manacles of the economic plunderers feeding fat on the commonwealth of the people of the state is daily strengthened by the enthusiastic citizens.
“AMBO is infectiously loved by old and young. His rich background in the private sector spanning over 23 years, his robust public service experience as state commissioner and chief executive of a federal agency, as well as his charming and humble personality, are some of the qualities professed by teeming supporters for wanting him to succeed the dancing governor whose tenure is characterised by wanton mismanagement of public resources.
“Given the chances the candidature of our Principal would offer the All Progressives Congress (APC), the progressive party in the state would not need to resort to backdoor tactics and brigandage to send packing through the ballot the bumbling government, which despite earning close to ₦1 trillion in revenue in 30 months, has got nothing meaningful and ambitious to show for it.
“We distance our Principal from the fabrication elevated by Sahara Reporters and therefore urge members of the public to disregard the malicious and seditious report,” Oyebamiji added.
