The future of prolific Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen has taken another twist, with Al-Hilal prepared to pay the reported £63m to sign the striker from Serie A champion, Napoli.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, the striker has said no to the Saudi Pro League, with Galatasaray where the Nigerian spent last season on loan, now back in the running.
The breaking news X post from Romano said: “Victor Osimhen has rejected Al Hilal proposal. Despite agreement club to club with Napoli for €75m fee, Osimhen says no to the Saudi Pro League club. Galatasaray will insist to sign him with race now open again.”
It had seemed Osimhen would move to the Saudi Pro League and play for Al Hilal, who had made it clear they were prepared to pay the £63m required for his parent club Napoli to sell the striker.
He enjoyed a fantastic season at Galatasaray last year, scoring 37 goals, which came after interest from Chelsea failed to materialise.
Despite the seeming agreement between Napoli and Al-Hilal, it now appears the player prefers to stay in Europe and has rejected the financial lure of the Saudi Pro League.
Where the Nigerian ends up next season remains to be seen, but it appears Osimhen still prefers Europe over the bucket loads of cash in Saudi.
A stay at Galatasaray appears most likely, with the Al Hilal deal now off the table. Romano’s report says: “Galatasaray will insist to sign him with race now open again.”
