Tensions continue to mount in Onigbongbo, Maryland, Lagos, as the Aminatu Ilubamito and Kuyasi Awuse families remain locked in dispute over the ownership of several prime properties in the area.
The properties in question include No. 713, Iya Oloye Crescent, Ismail Estate, Idiroko, Onigbongbo, as well as Nos. 291, 293, 295, and 297 along Ikorodu Road, near Idiroko Bus Stop, Onigbongbo, Maryland.
In a petition to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Inspector General of Police and Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos, Ilubamito family accused some individuals allegedly linked to the Awuse family of malicious destruction of property and actions capable of inciting public unrest.
Responding in a letter dated April 16, 2025, the Kuyasi Awuse family, through its counsel dismissed the claims as baseless and false.
The family called on the Ilubamito Family to refrain from conducting what it termed “media trial” and instead seek judicial enforcement if it truly possesses valid ownership.
Awuse told Ilubamito to approach court for enforcement of the judgment it has on the properties.
It alleged that all the claims of Ilubamito are mere allegations without proof.
However, Ilubamito Family said it remained resolute, insisting on their rightful ownership of the contested properties.
