Cocoa farmers in Owo/Ose Federal Constituency of Ondo State have become beneficiaries of 100,000 improved cocoa seedlings to boost agriculture and food production in their constituency.

A member of the House of Representatives  representing the constituency, Mr. Timehin Adelegbe, who distributed the cocoa seedlings said it was part of his contribution boost agriculture and ensure food sufficiency his constituency.

Adelegbe, a two-term federal lawmaker said he was committed to developing his constituency through agriculture.

The legislator who stated this yesterday while speaking with journalists in Akure, the state capital, said, “I have done a lot for my people. I distributed 100,000 improved cocoa seedlings to the farmers in my constituency to boost agriculture and food production in the constituency.

“Also, my commitment to infrastructural development, poverty alleviation, skill acquisition, mega empowerment programmes, sports development, educational support through bursary award to students, construction of blocks of classrooms, renovation of schools, financial aid to market women and men is one that can be attested to by the good people of Owo and Ose.”

On the issue of insecurity in the constituency, Adelegbe said he had supported the vigilante group and provided logistics to the group for the protection of lives and properties in the constituency.

“I am a victim of insecurity, having had my younger brother being kidnapped a long time ago but we are yet to see him. So, we, sons and daughters of Okeluse (in Ose LG), established a vigilante group and it is adjudged the best in Ondo State. We have supported the group with vehicles and logistics and we are planning to replicate it in the entire constituency.

“Hardly will any week pass in the House of the Representatives without having a motion on insecurity matters but I still believe that local arrangement with state policing is the best in tackling insecurity,” Adelegbe said.

He appreciated the constituents for their support, assuring them of his commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy.
