For the country to meet its housing deficit, the founder of one of the leading real estate firms, Rolad Properties and Allied Services Limited, Dotun Oloyede, has underscored the need to unlock Nigeria’s real estate sector with innovative financing strategies.
He stated this at the firm’s debut edition of its real estate conference REAL ESTATE NEXUS 1.0, held in Lagos in commemoration of the organisation’s 5th anniversary.
According to him, Real Estate Nexus is a conference that brings together industry mavens, real estate investors, developers and stakeholders to address one of Nigeria’s most pressing real estate dilemmas- finance and collectively proffer solutions.
He noted that barely one in four Nigerians has a piece of real estate to their name, adding as it is, there is a staggering housing deficit of 22 million units looming over the nation.
He explained that as a firm that stands as a cornerstone of innovation and progress in the real estate landscape, they are not just unlocking doors but opening pathways to a real estate era that’s vibrant, sustainable, and prosperous.
Highlighting the challenges facing the sector, he opined that the causes have been identified as high housing costs, elusive quest for mortgage finance, Inflation and the continuous devaluation of the Nigerian currency.
He charged participants that said that the conference should trigger a huge revolution in the real estate finance landscape by leveraging every solution that would be proffered by notable speakers at the conference.

plots sold and 1,000 housing unit projects in
the works.
According to him, “Rolad has created over 1,000 direct/indirect jobs within the period and has built an asset base worth millions of dollars and work to always provide affordable and quality real estate services while reducing the housing deficit in Nigeria.”
The event which attracted several stakeholders from the industry witnessed over 1000 participants attending the programme.
