Born and raised in Lagos, Ogunsola’s early years were shaped by determination and a vision for a brighter future. With limited resources but a wealth of ambition, he excelled academically, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry. His dedication to excellence soon earned him a prestigious role at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Lagos, where he rose to Assistant Manager in Corporate Finance and Deals Advisory.
Determined to expand his horizons, Ogunsola pursued an MBA at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, one of the most renowned institutions in the world. This marked the beginning of a journey that would see him become a leader in renewable energy and consulting.
During his time at Booth, Ogunsola developed a keen interest in sustainability and energy systems, recognizing their pivotal role in the future of global economies. This passion led him to the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where he became a consultant specializing in energy and sustainability.
Ogunsola’s impact in renewable energy is particularly remarkable. In Missouri, he led research and evaluation efforts to assess the potential for solar power development, presenting actionable recommendations to state authorities. His work contributed to policy shifts that attracted stakeholders to invest in solar energy projects.
In Louisiana, he played a key role in helping a prominent energy company secure $109 million in Department of Energy (DOE) funding for a groundbreaking 40MW solar project. These initiatives not only advanced the adoption of renewable energy but also demonstrated how strategic financial planning could unlock substantial environmental and economic benefits.
As a consultant at BCG, Ogunsola champions the integration of sustainable practices into business strategies. He is a strong advocate for renewable energy adoption in emerging markets like Nigeria, drawing on his experience to propose scalable solutions tailored to local challenges.
Reflecting on his journey, Ogunsola often emphasizes the importance of education and mentorship. “I am a product of hard work, perseverance, and the belief that one’s background should never define their future,” he says.
Despite his success abroad, Ogunsola remains deeply connected to his roots. He actively supports initiatives aimed at empowering Nigerian youth through mentorship and scholarships, inspiring the next generation of leaders to dream big. He is also vocal about the potential of renewable energy in Nigeria. “Nigeria has the resources and talent to lead Africa’s renewable energy revolution,” he asserts. Ogunsola believes that with the right policies and investments, Nigeria can address its energy challenges while creating millions of jobs.
