Former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has denied recent claims on social media that he discredited the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement released by his former Special Adviser on Media, Samuel Onwuemeodo, Okorocha described the claims as false and fabricated by his political detractors.
According to Onwuemeodo, “Almost eight years after leaving as Executive Governor of Imo State and years after leaving as Senator Representing Imo West Senatorial District, those with a phobia of Rochas Okorocha have refused to let up. They have gone on social media and planted a story, crediting him with the statement: ‘APC is no longer a political party but a party desperate to hijack power at all costs.’
Onwuemeodo added that Okorocha would not have made such a statement, given his commitment to the party. “Okorocha was a key player in the merger that gave birth to APC, and he took a significant political risk in supporting the party. He was also elected as the pioneer Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and worked tirelessly to make the forum successful.”
The statement concluded that Okorocha remains committed to the APC’s well-being and success, and the claims are merely a product of envy and blackmail from his detractors.
