In fulfillment of his campaign promises, member representing Oshodi/Isolo II of Lagos State in the green chamber of National Assembly, Hon. Okey-Joe Onuakalusi, is taking up 300 post primary school pupils in his constituency for university sponsorship.
Distributing free JAMB registration slips to the prospective students, the lawmaker who was represented by the Director General of Okey -Joe campaign organization, John Onyebuchukwu Uche, said the lawmaker would keep to his promises of leaving the constituency better than he met it.
“We know everyone is very hungry for obvious reasons, but the future of the country is more important. That’s why we taking steps to screen these young ones, those who scale through and pass their JAMB exam are automatically under scholarship till he or she graduates”
He added that soon, pupils in primary and secondary schools would soon be beneficiaries of democracy dividends as well as persons with special needs. “We have been distributing free uniforms and other study materials to unity schools in our constituency, and we are not giving up. This program is a yearly program. We are even bringing in National Teachers Institute (NTI) to be sited here in Oshodi / Isolo Constituency for the benefit of our children interested in teaching profession” he affirmed.
A perspective beneficiary, Emmanuella Olabanji, from Army Cantonment Senior Secondary Maryland, Ikeja, who expressed gladness promised to maximize the opportunity to get to the peak in her choose career. “I won’t abuse this opportunity. I want to study public administration, I appreciate our elected representative, and I implore him to keep doing the good work, his works shall speak for him tomorrow” she admonished.
Another prospective university beneficiary, Muruako Ikechukwu, of Jeed Trinity College, Ilasa Maja, who got the information through his father’s friend, said he was prepared for the tasks ahead and would leave no stone unturned to ensure that he makes good use of the opportunity.
Ikechukwu who implored other elected and appointed government officials to show empathy for the plight of the people equally urged his fellow students to be studious and never disappoint the pragmatic, accountable and responsible lawmaker and representative. “People need to see the essence of casting their for a particular candidate. When the government is doing the right thing at the right time and place, the people have no reason (whatsoever) to indulge in crime” he maintained.
