The Commander 63 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force, South-South Operation Delta Safe, Brigadier General Sanusi Aliyu, has assured of adequate protection of nation’s critical assets from economic saboteurs operating within the region, particularly its areas of responsibility.
To achieve this feat, he solicited an improved synergy with sister services and other security agencies operating within its coverage areas, as well as stakeholders in oil and gas sector, particularly indigenes of various host communities where criminal elements carries out their illicit oil deals.
Speaking in his capacity as the Special Guest of Honour at this year’s West African Social Activity (WASA), organised by 3Battalion, Effurun Barracks, Nigerian Army at the weekend, Brigadier General Aliyu, expressed confidence in the ability of his men and officers to live up to expectations in keeping the environment safer.
According to him; “For the Brigade to effectively surmount it’s complex environment, it would require troops to remain discipline, professional, focused and shunning of all forms of illegality, however tempting they may appear.
“It would also demand effective synergy with our Sister Services and other security agencies and well as solid support from our dear families”.
Continuing; “The dogged professionalism and military competences of our troops have proven to be veritable recipes for operational successes in the field.”
“The series of gains recorded by the Brigade against illegal oil bunkerers and economic saboteurs in our Area of Responsibility underpins this assertion”.
The commander then went ahead to applaud the men and officers of the 3Battalion, Effurun Barracks for organising a very colourful and successful 2023 WASA, noting that this has further reaffirmed the competence reposed in the Commanding Officer (CO Rear), Major Augustine Ohegbe, to effectively coordinate men and officers under his unit.
His words; “Having seen the organisation on ground, the beautiful colours already on display and the unfolding events lined up for today’s WASA, I can easily agree that the occasion marks a fitting close to the Year 2023 activities”.
“I am therefore particularly pleased with the level of preparation, readiness and commitment demonstrated by the officers, soldiers and families of 3 Battalion Rear towards the success of the WASA 2023”.
“On this note, I would like to once again recognise and sincerely thank the Commanding Officer 3 Battalion Rear for his commendable leadership while extending my warm appreciation to the organising committee for a job well done.”
Earlier in his speech, the Commanding Officer (CO Rear), Major Augustine Ohegbe, had attributed the success of the WASA to the build up events such as the Children’s Party and novelty football March that preluded the event itself.
He noted that all these would not have been possible without the support and leadership role played by Commander 63 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force, South-South, Operation Delta Safe, Brigadier General Sanusi Aliyu, to the Battalion.
Major Ohegbe expressed optimism that the new year would witness a renewed vigour in his men and officers as they would be more committed to bringing out their best to the service of the nation.
Speaking with newsmen at the event, Executive Director, Technical and Operations, Tantita Security outfit, Captain Warredi Enisuoh, had applauded the Nigerian Army for the cordial working relationship between both of them in the ongoing war against crude oil theft in the region.
He noted that there can never be a better time to have a cordial working relationship between various security agencies and Tantita Security outfit than now when the economy was being confronted with so many challenges, including dwindling revenues from oil sector due economic sabotage.
