• Highlights roads that need attention

From Fred Ezeh,Abuja

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council has appealed to Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, to replicate the kind gesture witnessed at Orlu, Umuahia and Okigwe federal roads, who had offered substantial economic advantages to Imo people and the broader Ndigbo community, to other federal roads in the state.

The group, specifically, mentioned road from Ntueke to Isiekenesie and further to Okwelle, the road from Ahiara Junction to Ehime Mbano Aba-Branch, from Orlu to Ihiala and Uli, from Anara Junction in Isiala Mbano to Ehime Mbano, Oriagu to Obowo Seven And Half Junction, the road from Umuna Orlu to Nkwerre and further to Amaraku, and from Akokwa to Arondizuogu and further to Okigwe, that require urgent attention from the government.

National President of the Council, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, in a statement on Thursday, informed the governor that criminals have taken advantage of the dilapidated nature of the aforementioned roads to unleash terror on road users.

He urged the governor to, as quickly as possible,  consider undertaking the construction of the badly dilapidated roads that have been persistent source of pain to Imolites over the past 24 years.

Meanwhile, the Ohanaeze Youth leader has condemned the recent media attacks by some politicians and some opposition groups in Imo State regarding the construction of federal roads describing it as unnecessary distraction.

“Sadly, the political cliques who allegedly mismanaged state funds between 1999 and 2020 are now criticizing Governor Uzodimma for his infrastructure development initiatives, including the construction of Umuahia federal, Okigwe Federal, and Orlu roads connecting Imo and Anambra States,” he said.

He suggested a constructive and objective criticism of the governor to enhance performance and service delivery. “Criticism driven by political bias and envy from desperate politicians who allegedly misappropriated Imo State’s resources since 1999 is unacceptable to Igbo youth and progressive-minded individuals.
