Ogun State Police Command has arrested 30 suspects for armed robbery, kidnapping and cultism, recovering stolen vehicles and 15 arms and ammunition abandoned in the scene of crime. Commissioner of Police, Mr Alamutu Abiodun, said: “Ember months will be too hot for criminal to operate, especially cultists killing in Sagamu and other areas.
“I have visited the flashpoints, where police operatives arrested some cultists and recovered dangerous weapons from their hideouts. The suspects confessed, immediately we conclude our investigation, we will charge them to court.
“I have charged officers and area commanders and DPOs to tackle the hoodlums in the state. I redeployed operatives of police tactical team to the flashpoints. Police operatives arrested 15 suspected armed robbers and recovered weapons from them.
“Operatives nabbed some kidnappers in Sagamu-Mowe axis and recovered AK-47 riffles, magazine and 20 rounds of ammunition. The tactical team recovered a vandalised IBEDC transformer belonging to Showo community along Kobape on the Sagamu-Abeokuta Expressway.
“Police in Oru Division rescued two kidnapped teenagers, Chindalu and Udeba kidnapped in Ojo Local Government, Lagos State. They abandoned the victims near the riverside in Oru-Ijebu. Operatives arrested 14 suspected cultists in Abeokuta, Owode, Sagamu and Fadahunsi.”
Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Omolola Odutola, called on the members of the public to always alert the police on any suspicious movement: “We appreciate them for the useful pieces of information made available to the command. We need more of such cooperation from the public.”
