The Asade Royal Family of Iwaye Dodo Ruling House in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, at the weekend, celebrated the fourth edition of the Royal Family Day, with a call on members of the family to ensure the preservation of their traditional norms and identity.
Speaking at the event held in Ipokia town, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Adelani Asade, said the celebration would always serve as a reminder of family’s shared heritage and values as well as a reunion where all members meet and know themselves.
He added that the event was also organized to demonstrate the importance of preserving Nigeria’s cultural heritage, traditional norms, and identity, emphasizing that the present generation must ensure they pass cultural and traditional ideals to the next generation.
While reaffirming the commitment of the Royal Family to the preservation of its cultural values and traditions, Asade noted that the annual event would continue to foster unity among the family members within and beyond Ipokia town.
“This annual Royal Family Day celebration remains an integral part of our cultural landscape. As a family, we must continue to pass on our cultural ideals to the next generation.
“This event, no doubt, serves as a reminder of our shared heritage and values as well as a family reunion where all members meet and know themselves. To me, the celebration has been a resounding success, with attendees departing with a renewed sense of pride, unity, and cultural awareness”, Asade stated.
The celebration featured performances by the traditional Igbe royal dance; Bolojo dance; Ajangbode and royal performance by the Adekanbi/Akinlade wives of the Iwaye Dodo Ruling House.
