From Ndubuisi Orji, Abuja
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, are amongst guests expected at the public presentation of the biography of former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, in Abuja, next Tuesday.
The chairman of the Sule Lamido Book Launch Committee, Senator Mustapha Khabeeb, disclosed this, at a press briefing, on Tuesday, in Abuja.
Lamido, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), was former minister of Foreign Affairs, in President Obasanjo’s tenure, and later served as governor of Jigawa State for two terms.
Khabeeb noted that the biography titled “Being True To Myself”, encapsulates the political journey of the former Jigawa State governor, as well as the political and democratic history of the country.
He stated that while Obasanjo and Abdusalami would serve as the Special Guest of Honour and Chairman respectively, former PDP chairman, Iyorchia Ayu will be the book reviewer, at the event, which is expected to be attended by other eminent personalities.
According to him, the book gives ” a beautiful account of our nation’s chequered journey from the 2nd Republic to today. It promises to deliver a constellation of compelling insights and thought-provoking revelations into the inner workings of power and governance in Nigeria.
“It is a story of unflinching refusal to compromise the ideals and principles that have guided Lamido’s politics since the 2nd Republic. One question that should agitate the mind of everyone is how did Sule Lamido manage to navigate through Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives at a time when the country was emerging from a pariah status among the comity of nations?”
