In a bid to reinforce its dedication to the welfare of Nigerian workers, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Mr. Oluwaseun Faleye, has reiterated the agency’s commitment to workers welfare.
At a recent event in Abuja, Faleye presented a N25 million compensation cheque to a staff member of the National Assembly. He also emphasised the Fund’s accelerated compensation process and its heightened sense of responsibility. He highlighted NSITF’s renewed engagement with the National Assembly and other stakeholders to ensure strict adherence to the Employees’ Compensation Act.
“We at NSITF are taking our responsibility and our mandate much more seriously and engaging stakeholders. We are paying compensation much faster and quicker, as evidenced by today’s presentation. We are also renewing our relationship with the National Assembly and other employers to enhance staff welfare in cases of work related accidents or injuries and death,” he said.
Responding, the Clerk of the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, commended NSITF for its commitment to supporting Nigerian workers and urged prompt disbursement of entbenefits. He assured NSITF of the National Assembly’s legislative support to bolster its capacity in fulfilling its core mandate. The ceremony was attended by Senator Diket Plang, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Labour and Employment, and his House of Representatives counterpart, Adegboyega Adefarati.
The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) is committed to providing social security protection and safety net for all Nigerians against deprivation and income insecurity resulting from workplace injuries and disabilities.
