The ancient town of Nri in Anambra State witnessed an outpouring of love and cultural splendor during the weekend as the people of the historic kingdom welcomed and celebrated one of their own, Senator Uche Ekwunife (CON), in a colourful civic reception which many described as “a day to remember.”

Senator Ekwunife, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy Governorship candidate for the November 2025 Anambra gubernatorial election, was honored by the people of Nri for her distinguished public service, enduring connection to the community, and her growing legacy in both politics and philanthropy.

Married into the town through her husband, Oba Larry Ekwunife, the celebration reflected the pride and admiration the people hold for her.

By mid-morning, the Eke Nri arena had transformed into a sea of color and excitement, as supporters and well-wishers from across the region thronged the venue to receive the senator.

Traditional dances, masquerade displays, and chants filled the air as locals came out en masse in a show of solidarity.

Senator Ekwunife’s arrival, accompanied by her husband in a spirited procession, sent the crowd into a frenzy of cheers and ululations.

For many in attendance, the occasion was more than a political statement; it was a heartfelt endorsement of a daughter of the land who has consistently championed the people’s interests.

In her public life, Senator Ekwunife has served at both the Federal House of Representatives and the Senate, leaving a trail of completed projects and empowerment initiatives, particularly in Nri and its environs.
