US President Donald Trump has come under fire over an AI-generated image of himself dressed as the Pope.
Trump, who posted the photo on his Truth Social platform, was called out by the New York State Catholic Conference, an organisation representing the state’s bishops, which works with the government to shape laws and policies that promote social justice and respect for life.
While stating that there was nothing funny about the photo, the NYS Catholic Conference reminded the US leader that the late Pope Francis had just been laid to rest.

President Trump was also warned against making a mockery of the body.
“There is nothing clever or funny about this image, Mr President.
“We just buried our beloved Pope Francis, and the cardinals are about to enter a solemn conclave to elect a new successor of St Peter. Do not mock us,” the NYS Catholic Conference said in a post on X.
