Super Eagles of Nigeria fullback, Ola Aina has been listed amongst the nominees for the fan team of the Premier League for the 2024/2025 season in the right full-back position.
The Nottingham Forest man has had a stellar campaign — one of the very best in his career so far, with his performances attracting interest from Manchester City as a possible replacement for the departing Kyle Walker.
Ola Aina has also been a standout player for the Nigerian national side as he can play on both the left and right side of defence. He provided an inch-perfect cross for Victor Osimhen to put the Super Eagles in front against Zimbabwe but Eric Chelle’s side painfully conceded a late equaliser in that match.
In the just concluded 24/25 Premier League season, Ola Aina started 92% of Nottingham Forest’s games (35 of 38), scoring two goals and providing one assist.
The 28-year-old’s solid defending and brilliant tackles highlights his intelligence as he was only shown a yellow card on five occasions and he never got sent off.
Ola Aina will battle Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, Crystal Palace’s Daniel Muñoz, Djed Spence from Tottenham, and West Ham’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the right side of the Premier League Fans Team of the Season.
For the left side of the defence, Rayan Ait-Nouri (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Marc Cucurella (Chelsea), Josko Gvardiol (Manchester City), Milos Kerkez (AFC Bournemouth), and Antonee Robinson (Fulham) have all been nominated.
Fans have until 23:59 on Thursday, May 29th to select their team.s
