Nollywood actor, Enyinna Nwigwe has emerged host to family game show, “The Pyramid Game Show Nigeria”
The classic game show of words is marking a historic it African debut.
Nwigwe assured the audience of a show that goes beyond mere entertainment, seamlessly incorporating the diverse tapestry of Nigerian culture. He said the incorporation of Nigerian culture into the show is a top priority and that the groundwork has already been laid, with carefully crafted segments designed to reflect different phases of Nigerian culture.
He disclosed this during the unveiling of “The Pyramid Game Show Nigeria” in Lagos.The show’s host also expressed his delight and enthusiasm on the gameshow for not only providing entertainment but also offering financial opportunities to contestants, especially at a time when Nigeria is facing economic challenges.
“The Pyramid Game Show Nigeria,” a Sony Pictures Television Entertainment franchise produced by Mekdoss International, is set to be an exhilarating blend of words and wit. The unique format features two teams, each comprising a celebrity and a contestant, with celebrities helping the contestants win N10 million on each weekly episode.
Addressing the gathering, producer of the game show, Martin Gbados, expressed his excitement about introducing a game show of “existential importance” to Nigeria.
Gbados highlighted the societal vacuum of family-friendly entertainment, asserting that “The Pyramid Game Show” aims to fill that void.
“We saw your vacuum in terms of family entertainment and took advantage of it by creating a game show where family mom, dad, and children sit down together, play, and also watch for fun,” he said.
Discussing the historical significance of game shows, Gbados cited the longevity of the pyramid game show format, which has been around for almost 40 years, and revealed that the Nigerian version promises to incorporate the local context with questions tailored to resonate with the Nigerian audience.
Gbados explained the dynamics of the show, hinting at the potential for extended families to win substantial amounts. He also unveiled a new interactive feature that allows viewers at home to participate and win cash prizes.
“We have opportunities for people not only to watch the show but also to play at home and make money,” Gbados stated. A unique segment, “Mystery Seven,” offers winners the chance to explore undisclosed international destinations with unexplored cultural riches. Gbados underscored the show’s commitment to community engagement, with contestants allowed to choose Nigerian destinations for the “Mystery Seven” segment.
Moreso, this is in collaboration with Sony Pictures, Gbados expressed gratitude for the partnership, describing it as an eye-opening experience and assuring the audience that Sony would be actively involved in the production process.
The inaugural episode witnessed Vanesa Obioha crowned the first-ever champion of the N10 million Pyramid Game Show, playing alongside Nigerian actress Munachi Abii. Obioha expressed her exhilaration and described the show as “very, very, very entertaining,” and also expressed the desire to relive the experience.
