The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Edo State Directorate, has intensified efforts to curb the rising tide of social vices and youth restiveness, taking its flagship campaign, ‘Pathway to National Cohesion, Development and Unity,’ to both the airwaves and the academic community.
On Friday, the state director, Osahon Bamidele Woghiren, led an NOA team to the University of Benin, where they met with the Vice Chancellor, Professor Edoba Omoregie, to deepen institutional collaboration on youth sensitisation and national reorientation. At the heart of the engagement was the National Value Charter (NVC), a transformative framework developed by NOA to foster ethical behaviour, social responsibility and national pride.
Woghiren emphasised the urgency of steering young people away from destructive paths, such as cultism, thuggery, prostitution and examination malpractices.
In his response, Professor Omoregie commended the NOA’s renewed vigour and expressed strong support for the campaign. He pledged the university’s readiness to partner with the agency to craft meaningful programmes that will embed civic values into the fabric of students’ life and nurture a new generation of responsible citizens.
Further amplifying the message of national rebirth, the team also featured live on Vibes Radio FM, Benin City. Representing the State Director on the programme were Mr. Garuba Richard, Deputy Director of Mass Mobilisation, and Mr. Attah Philip Emema, Assistant Director of Planning, Research and Strategy. They engaged the public in a conversation about the threats of cult violence and divisive tendencies and the importance of promoting peace, unity and national identity.
The campaign reflects NOA’s ongoing commitment to reshaping public consciousness and tackling the root causes of societal breakdown.
