The National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the Office for Strategic Preparedness and Resilience (OSPREE) have entered into a strategic partnership to enhance Nigeria’s early warning and response mechanisms.

The collaboration brings together NOA’s extensive grassroots reach and OSPREE’s expertise in data-driven threat analysis, forming a unified front against issues such as insecurity, climate change, and natural disasters.

At the core of the partnership is the shared goal of ensuring that early alerts are translated into swift, coordinated preventive actions. During a recent strategic engagement, NOA Director-General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, reaffirmed the agency’s role in mobilising communities and disseminating timely information through its presence in all 774 local government areas across the country.

On his part, OSPREE Director-General, Chris Ngwodo, highlighted the value of combining technology with community intelligence, stressing that anticipating and addressing national threats requires not only robust data analysis but, also, strong local engagement.

“A responsive early warning system must be grounded in both digital insight and grassroots input,” said Ngwodo.

Both agencies agreed that meaningful collaboration and information sharing at the local level are critical to preventing small incidents from escalating into widespread crises. The partnership marks a significant step toward building a coordinated national strategy where citizens are informed, engaged, and equipped to respond to threats before they escalate.

As Nigeria faces an increasingly complex risk landscape, the synergy between NOA and OSPREE is expected to improve the country’s capacity for timely intervention and long-term resilience.
