The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has declared the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) “dead” and predicted that its leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will soon join the APC.
Speaking on Tuesday in Abuja to members of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) during a courtesy visit at the APC national secretariat, Ganduje claimed the NNPP is on the verge of collapse.
“I know that you are aware that NNPP is dead and that party will soon be buried. The coffin where we will put his body has already been constructed. What remains now is to dig the grave. And we are already digging the grave,” he said.
He suggested Kwankwaso’s return to the APC is imminent, stating, “We even learnt that even the so-called leader, after losing everywhere, wants to come back to the APC and we will welcome him. When a General lost his commanders, we will receive him when he is coming home.”
Ganduje highlighted recent defections to the APC, saying, “Actually all the House of Representatives, Senators and State Assemblies and other party officials, timber and caterpillars are coming into the APC very soon.” He dismissed prospects of a coalition against President Bola Tinubu in 2027, predicting its leaders will also rejoin the APC.
He urged the TSG to remain steadfast in supporting Tinubu’s administration and promised their inclusion in party activities.
On the same day, Ganduje inaugurated a reconciliation committee for the Anambra State APC governorship primary election. He stressed the need for unity, saying, “Only a united house can guarantee the party victory in the coming governorship election.”
He tasked the committee with uniting all Anambra APC members into “one indivisible family.”
