The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Osun State has declared that the state deserves a better governor than incumbent Ademola Adeleke in the 2026 election.

The party described Osun’s current condition as “pitiable”, urging a leadership change to restore the state’s prominence.

NNPP state chairman, Dr Tosin Odeyemi, criticised Adeleke’s administration as a “double jeopardy” for Osun’s progress, stating, “Governance has been reduced to jamboree as the state is now being governed by three governors; they have a ceremonial governor, an Administrative Governor and a Technical Governor.”

He accused Adeleke’s aides of prioritising personal gain over state development, with capable aides being misplaced to avoid outshining the governor.

Odeyemi highlighted unfulfilled promises, saying, “Our collective money is being spent on uncountable aides the state government is rolling out employment letters to every day.” He noted the stalled local government administration and questionable infrastructure budgets, despite prior allocations.

The NNPP pledged to present a knowledgeable, credible candidate in 2026, urging political parties to unite for Osun’s prosperity. Odeyemi added: “Osun needs to be delivered from the shackles of those political parties we have tested but not trusted.”
