The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented certificate of return to the House of Representatives member-elect after the rerun election held two weekends ago in Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency.

The candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Hon Peter Uzokwe beat his All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), counterpart, Hon Uche Elodimuo in the election.
While receiving the certificate at INEC headquarters in Abuja, Uzokwe thanked his constituents for voting for him, while praising the senator representing Anambra South senatorial zone, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.
He described him as the pillar that stood beside him all through the election and resisted attempts by other interested parties to steal his victory.
He said: “I’m very happy today, and I want to thank my leader, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, the lion himself.
“He stood by me all through the election, until I was declared winner of the election. This was despite efforts by the ruling party in Anambra, APGA attempting to thwart my victory, but he stood by me.”
Ubah had while briefing journalists after the election alleged that some top government officials had been mobilised to Nnewi to deliver the election to APGA candidate, but the people resisted them and voted for YPP.
