The terrorism trial involving the proscribed leader of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has taken a unique turn as witnesses are set to testify behind camera.
The development comes after a request by the Federal Government, represented by counsel Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN).
After hearing the request, Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday gave his permission for the witnesses to testify behind a screen.
According to the federal government’s counsel, the identities of the witnesses should be protected for security reasons, given the sensitive nature of the case.
The request was not opposed by Kanu’s Kanu Agabi (SAN) and it was subsequently granted by Omotosho.
