Nipco Gas Ltd, a leading gas company in Nigeria, has received two awards for pioneering efforts in natural gas utilisation as energy fuel across the country.

The company bagged the awards at the Nigerian Gas Association’s Gala Dinner and Award night embedded in  the just concluded Nigeria International Energy Summit in Abuja.

Nipco’s efforts started with the inauguration of Compressed Natural Gas stations in Benin, Edo State in 2009. The firm has so far inaugurated 12 outlets and was operating over 100km of pipeline network, providing piped natural gas to industries.

The awards are  the  Nigeria Domestic Gas Ambassadors Award and Gas Sector Innovation Pioneer Award, which were in  recognition of the company’s contributions to the country’s gas sector.

The President, Nigeria Gas Association, Mr  E.D. Ubong, who presented the awards at the  Abuja Continental Hotel , said that it was to recognise the company’s role in deepening gas utilisation and pioneering innovative technology towards the growth and development of the industry.

He described the occasion as celebration of the achievement of the successes recorded by Nipco Gas Ltd, which had over the years exhibited faith in the resilience of the Nigerian economy through its investment in the sector.

The Managing Director, Nipco Gas, Nagendra Verma, while receiving the awards on behalf of the company,  expressed gratitude for the recognition, stressing that it was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Nipco Gas team.

Verma also emphasised the company’s commitment to promoting domestic gas utilisation and offering solutions in the industry by harnessing the nation’s gas resources for national development.

He said the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability had earned it a reputation as a trusted and reliable partner in the sector, adding that with the awards, Nipco Gas had demonstrated its resolve in contributing to the Decade of Gas and Nigeria Gas Expansion Programme of the Federal Government.

Verma expressed appreciation to the organisers of the yearly event and pledged that Nipco would keep up the tempo in the full realisation of the growing benefits of a gas-powered economy for Nigeria.

He acknowledged the support from NNPC Gas Marketing Limited, which  helped Nipco Gas to achieve greater heights and contribute towards the  growth of the nation’s economy.

He affirmed that with NGML, Nipco Gas intends to cater for other markets of Nigeria by way of sustainable gas infrastructure, which will help in deepening gas utilisation and increased monetisation of the abundant gas resouces of the country.
