The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd) has stated that Nigerians should be “proud of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme for its achievement in the unifying and integrating citizens.”
He made the call Friday, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam, in Tai Local Government Area of the state, when he presided over the swearing in ceremony of 2025 Batch A Stream I Corps members deployed to the State.
Speaking further, the SOLAD described the NYSC Scheme as a “vehicle for nation building and development, while commending its managers for their commitment, dedication and hardwork at improving the operations of the scheme to meet contemporary technology needs of the 21st century graduate youths.
He further charged the Corps members to “repay Nigerians the trust reposed in them as the successor generation to restore the country to the part of honor, dignity and prosperity.”
In his welcome address, the State Coordinator NYSC Rivers State, Mr. Moses Oleghe, enjoined the Corps members to make “honest and patriotic sacrifices that would engender rapid economic growth and peace in the country.”
Mr. Oleghe also used the occasion to commend the Corps members for demonstrating high sense of commitment to adapt to the rigours of the orientation exercise and realize its objectives.
A total of 2018 Corps members comprising 752 males and 1,266 females were sworn in at the occasion by Hon. Margaret Opara who represented the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi.
