In the wake of mounting economic challenges, Nigerians are fervently urging government officials to reconsider the closure of borders to facilitate international business activities.

Dr. Kassim Muhammed Kassim, Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State on Political Affairs, in a statement sent to Daily Sun on Friday emphasized the critical need for swift action to address the nation’s economic stagnation.

“The general public is enduring tremendous hardship, possibly unbeknownst to our leaders,” remarked Dr. Kassim. “Our economy is stagnant, businesses are struggling, and the prices of goods are skyrocketing.”

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Dr. Kassim warned of potential repercussions if timely measures are not implemented.

“Failure to address this promptly may lead people to depend solely on politics for survival,” he cautioned. “The masses’ attention is increasingly shifting towards politics, not necessarily because they desire it, but because politicians are the only ones enjoying financial stability and providing quality education for their children.”

Dr. Kassim stressed the importance of creating avenues for individuals to break free from political affiliations, as continued neglect could exacerbate security challenges. “Most conflicts arise from envy, competition, instigation, suppression, and the absence of fair justice,” he asserted.

Expressing concerns over the implications of inaction, Dr. Kassim highlighted the potential ramifications for future elections and societal stability.

“If improvements are not made, future elections may witness heightened agitation across the country,” he cautioned. “Endemic crises, theft, kidnappings, and other illicit activities will persist unless a conducive environment is established.”

In sharing his thoughts, Dr. Kassim addressed the need for genuine commitment to the well-being of the Nigerian populace. “For how long will we allow lip service and hypocrisy to govern us, disregarding the well-being of our people?” he questioned.
