The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Idemili North House of Assembly in Anambra State, Chief Vincent Obi, has promised to create jobs for the teeming youths if elected in 2023 general election.
He said that hooliganism, cultism, thuggery and other social vices would be a thing of the past if elected into the state House of Assembly as he would engage the youths of the constituency meaningfully and positively in skills, trades and crafts to earn a living.
Obi who spoke with Daily Sun said that he has been empowering the youths and elderly in his area through his foundation where he pays school fees for indigents, built houses for widows and poor in Idemili and beyond.
He said his reason for contesting for the House of Assembly was due to people’s clamour for good and quality representation lacking over the years in his area, saying that his achievement as a business man stood him out among other candidates.
“I love my constituency and they love me due to my achievements as an individual. So, they decided to call on me to run for House of Assembly to go and make laws and attract more constituency projects. I’m not going to the House of Assembly to amass wealth because God has blessed me already but to bring development to my people.
“I have toured all the communities in Idemili North and I have identified their needs and promise that if am elected I will draw government attention to it and try and solve those problems bordering my communities.
“I have Vin Obi Foundation and through that foundation we have helped indigent students by paying their school fees. My community, Ogidi, I have provided rural electrification to areas that do not have electricity which cost the foundation millions of Naira. I have built a drainage system with four standard culverts, I built houses for the widows and poor who could not afford to build houses. So, I have been doing all these with my money by Gods grace who gave me the wealth. If I can use my money to do all these things, then I will do more if elected into the state Assembly.
“If my people will support me and I come out victorious in the election, as a lover of education, I will improve the standard of the eduction in my constituency and rehabilitate dilapidated schools with good facilities through my constituency project. I will provide water to areas that do not have water, just like I dug borehole in my place where everybody within the area comes to fetch water free”, he said.
