Princeton Leadership Forum ( PLF) has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria (INEC) to ensure that the will of Nigerians prevail in the forth coming general election.
The President, Dr chibuike Echem made this plead at the forum’s first series of ” What kind of leaders should Nigerians elect” held in Abuja yesterday.
Dr Echem stressed that Nigeria can only recover its lost glory if the will of the masses is allowed to prevail through their votes.
“In the 25th day of this month will be remarkable day for Nigerians. As we go to the poll which is our civic responsibility, this is one of the major task that we owe this country as our nation to participate in the democratic process.
I want to call on all Nigerians, especially the youth to come out in mass and vote and also the INEC to make sure that the will of the people prevail.let the will of Nigerians prevail. May we not finish voting and a group of people seat down and destroy our efforts, a lot depend on this election,the sensitivity and awareness is very high.
I want to use this medium to commend the president and all arms of the government that will be participating in this election.
He, further urged Nigerians not to allow any politician to use the blood to ascend “Do not give your life for any politician, don’t die for anybody. Do not sacrifice your life for anybody,after the election people will begin to go about their normal businesses and you will become a forgotten matter,so go to the poll vote, defend your vote and return to your house.
Speaking on the kind of leaders Nigerians should elect, the Executive Director of the Ugwumba Leadership Center for Africa, Mr. Remy Chukwunyere said Nigerians need a leader with the political will to be able to influence the followers.
He said “leadership is all about influence, how a leader can influence he followers positively. Nigeria need the leader who have the political will to change the narrative.”
Ifeanyi Ngama, Founder/ Chairman EXWHYZEE Technologies on his part said Nigeria need leaders with the capabilities to lead the country aright.”We should not be looking at only the ability,the leader must have the wisdom, experience to be able to make a rightful impact.
He added that both the credibility of the party and the candidate is important in chosing a leader but the credibility of the candidate is more important.
Abdulmimini Ahmed,Chief Executive Officer Captival Limited said that age is not the main factor that should be considered while chosing a leader, adding that Nigeria need a transformable leader irrespective of age, party or tribe.
