Niger Speaker mourns passing of Deputy Governor’s wife

Speaker Sarkindaji leads condolences, describing her death as great loss to the state

The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Abdulmalik Sarkindaji, has described the death of the Niger State Deputy Governor’s wife, Hajiya Zainab Garba, as shocking and painful.

The late Hajiya Zainab Garba, the first wife of Deputy Governor Comrade Yakubu Garba, died in Minna on Tuesday after a brief illness.

In a condolence message issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mallam Shamsudeen Lawal Binaira, the Speaker said the Deputy Governor’s wife’s death was a great loss not only to the family but to the entire state.

Sarkindaji described the late Hajiya Zainab Garba as a humble woman and mother whose demise will be greatly missed by all, adding, “I am personally saddened by the news of her death.”

He stated that while no one can question God over death, the demise of the late Hajiya Zainab came at a time when her support and contributions to building a new Niger were most needed. He added that it is devastating news and a trying moment, not only for his Deputy but for the government and the entire state.

He urged the Deputy Governor to see his wife’s death as an act of Allah, who gives and takes when it pleases Him. He said that the Deputy Governor should be consoled by the fact that the deceased lived a good and fulfilled life.

The Speaker, along with members of the State House of Assembly, visited the Deputy Governor’s residence to offer their condolences. Prayers were offered for the repose of the late Hajiya Zainab Garba’s soul.
