Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal Directorate, arrested 40 suspected internet fraudsters in Bida and Minna, Niger State, on Tuesday, April 15.
EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, reported that items recovered included three cars, eight power generating sets, one Hisense air conditioner, two power stabilisers, 10 motorcycles, eight laptops, four Bluetooth speakers, and 60 Android phones.
Additionally, fetish items were seized, such as three calabashes with feathers, traditional soap and sponge, a bottle of hot drink, 20 cowries, a waist bead, and four pieces of women’s underwear.
The arrests followed credible intelligence linking the suspects to fraudulent internet activities, commonly known as “yahoo-yahoo.” Oyewale stated, “They are expected to be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
