Anon-governmental organisation, Inner Wheel District 912 Nigeria, recently presented two babies born on January 10, 2025 with essential delivery kits, cash gifts at Island Maternity Hospital, Lagos.

The organization celebrated 101 anniversary /Founders’ Day. In line with activities to mark the day, Inner Wheel welcomed baby of the year with lots of gifts and cash donations. They also gave expectant mothers with baby and mother kits, with virtually all the necessities needed after birth included in the pack.

Also, the two babies of the New Year were born at the same time just minutes apart after 12 midnight of January 10, 2025. The two babies were presented with gifts and cash.

While celebrating its 101 anniversary, District 912 Nigeria joined in this global observance. Founded in Manchester, United Kingdom, the act of giving not only highlighted the organization’s commitment to service and community welfare but also reinforced the spirit of compassion and support among women.

The event was a significant reminder of Inner Wheel’s ongoing mission to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals and communities worldwide as the team went onto Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Development Council and distributed food items to residents.

Speaking, Immediate Past National President, Zainab Ikheloa, said the Founders’ Day was being marked globally, noting that in the spirit of empowering people, they decided to visit the hospital, among other places.

“This is being celebrated globally because Inner Wheel is 101 years old today. In our nature of reaching and empowering, we decided to come to this hospital, which is not the first time we come here.

On her part, Chairman, Inner Wheel District 912 Nigeria, Abiola Aberuagba said insufficient food was the greatest nutritional challenge. “To tackle this, the government should seek ways to stimulate the production and distribution of as much inexpensive food as possible.

Aberuagba, added that the government needs to adopt some innovative solutions crucial for a healthy food system in Nigeria.

“People should be provided with healthy food to help prevent annual deaths currently caused by unhealthy diets. Consuming a healthy diet from pre-birth to the last days of life is vital to prevent all forms of malnutrition as well as diabetes, cancers and other non-communicable diseases.”
