From Emmanuel Adeyemi, Lokoja
The new Managing Director of Nigeria Inland Waterways (NIWA), Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has promised to operate an open door policy in line with president Bola Tinubu’s agenda of promoting blue economy.
Oyebamiji stated this on Monday when he officially resumed at NIWA’s headquarters, Lokoja.
According to him,”I am an advocate of open door policy where everyone matters, I will solicit for your cooperation,I will welcome suggestions from every individual member of staff in as much as they were aimed at moving NIWA forward to the next level.”
The former finance Commissioner in the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun state, said he expected members of staff to start thinking of doing things differently if they want to get different results..
“You cannot be doing the same thing over and over and expect different results,we must begin to think of doing things differently. My life has been marked by discipline and accountability. I was thrown into a very competitive sector early in my career. The banking sector does not support mediocrity in any form.
Your performance determines your placement and benefits. I have the uncommon privilege to learn and practice classical banking under the duress of the industry in the marine sector, among others.”
Oyebamiji said that NIWA can be performance-driven with support from members of staff and this he said will be his guiding principle as he begins the task of moving it to the next level.
