… 9 suspects arrested, 2.635kg drugs seized

The Cross River State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has arrested nine suspects and seized 2.635kg of drugs in Calabar, Cross River State.
State Commander of the agency, Rachael Umebuali disclosed this during an interview in her office in Calabar.
She disclosed that following complaints by some residents, the agency raided Bogobiri, Effio Ette and mechanic village 8 Miles and arrested the suspects alongside the exhibits.
” We received complaints from some residents in these areas and we went out for dislodgement of these black spots and flash areas.
” They converge there to take these banned substances and and then move on to commit all sorts of crimes.
“We arrested 5 suspects from Bogobiri, 2 at Effio Ette and 2 at mechanic village in 8 Miles and they are all males.
“Substances seized from them include 2.386kg of cannabis sativa, 202g of tramadol, 2g of methamphetamine and 45g of Diezapam which amounts to 2.635kg”, she said.
The State Commander said after investigations, the dealers will be prosecuted while the smokers will be counselled on the effects of drug use.
She also disclosed that the command has destroyed over 100 hectares of cannabis sativa farms in Odukpani and Akamkpa within the last month.
She added the state command has zero tolerance for illicit drug activities and there will be no hiding place in the state for drug dealers.
