The 10 finalists of the 2024 Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board (NCDMB) Annual National Undergraduate Essay Competition, have arrived Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, for the final round of the competition.

The final round of the competition, which involves the interaction of the finalists at Ebitare Hotels, precedes the award and prize-giving ceremony to be held at the NCDMB headquarters today, December 16.

The project consultant and CEO of Mahogany 21st Century Concepts Limited, Eyinimi Omorozi, noted in a statement that 10 national finalists were selected from the huge number of students in various universities and polytechnics across the country, who participated in the 2024 edition of the academic exercise.

According to him, the 10 finalists whose essays were shortlisted for the awards, are to be honoured for the exceptional talent demonstrated in their writing skills and research conduct ability, and to be celebrated for their brilliant minds set at shaping the future of Nigeria and beyond.

“The NCDMB Annual National Undergraduate Essay Competition is a flagship academic exercise of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) organised annually to promote academic excellence for undergraduate students in Nigerian tertiary institutions. Each of the top 10 finalists will be presented with a laptop computer, and the top three place winners will go home with award plaques, mouth-watering cash prizes, and other items. The topic of the 2024 edition of the essay competition is Nigerian Content and Opportunities in African Local Content Advancement. The academic exercise is open only to 100 – 200-level students in Nigerian higher institutions,’’ he said.
