The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has hosted the second edition of its Annual Training for Aviation Correspondents in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Assistant General Manager of the NCAA’s Public Relations Department, Mrs Uju Mbamalu, remarked that the continuity reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to deepening media capacity and strengthening public communication within the aviation sector.
She commended the media’s evolving professionalism in reporting aviation matters.
“Anytime, any day you call, we are ready to give answers to any question,” she said.
“From the first edition, we have observed positive changes in news reporting from the aviation sector.
“We now see correspondents developing a stronger relationship with the Authority. That shows we’re building trust,” she added.
She noted that such proactive engagement between journalists and the NCAA was previously uncommon, describing it as a welcome development.
The two-day training, held on Monday, June 9, and Tuesday, June 10, 2025, had journalists from both conventional and new media in attendance.
“This bespoke training is not just a formality; it’s designed to truly enhance the professional knowledge of aviation correspondents,” Uju emphasised.
The event, supported by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt Chris Najomo, and the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, focused on improving reportage and understanding of aviation regulation and consumer protection policies.
