As the National Sports Festival tagged ‘Gateway Games Ogun 2024’ begins today, the Special Assistant to Ogun State Governor on Youth Affairs, Olamide Lawal, has declared that the upgrade of sporting facilities across the state will enhance Ogun hosting capacity and also provide a platform for young people to showcase their talents, strengths, and resources.
Lawal, who gave the commendation at the weekend while featuring on a live radio programme in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, described the development as heartwarming and a reassurance of a better future for the youths.
The Special Assistant who is also the National President of the APC Youth League specifically praised Governor Dapo Abiodun for the remarkable facelift he gave to sports and sporting facilities in the state. “This impressive initiative, undertaken ahead of the National Sports Festival, is a testament to the Governor’s visionary leadership and dedication to empowering the state’s youth through sports. The upgrade of sporting facilities will not only enhance Ogun State’s hosting capacity but also provide a platform for young people to showcase their talents, strengths, and resources.
“This initiative will undoubtedly bring about a new wave of opportunities for our youth, allowing them to flourish and reach their full potential”, he said.
He expressed optimism that the development of sports infrastructure in Ogun State will have a positive impact on the youths in the state.
“With access to world-class facilities, young athletes will be able to train and compete at the national level, thereby showcasing their talents and achieving greatness”, he emphasized
The APC Youth League president, however, urged the youth to seize the opportunity in making the best use of the facilities in a bid to enhancing their skills and reach new heights.
“We are proud of our Governor’s achievements, and we look forward to more empowerment for our youths, even after the National Sports Festival. It is clear that these top-notch sporting facilities will play a major role in making the Ogun state youth more capable in their various fields of choice and broaden their talents”, Lawal submitted.
