President Bola Tinubu presented a N1.78 trillion budget proposal for the Federal Capital Territory to the National Assembly on Tuesday.

Speaking in a letter read on the floor of the Green Chamber on Tuesday by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, Tinubu urged the lawmakers to fast-track the passage of the budget.

According to the president, the N1.78 trillion budget is for critical development projects in the nation’s capital.

Tinubu added that the budget presentation complied with Section 299 of the Nigerian Constitution, which empowers the president to lay the FCT’s budget before the legislature.

He said the proposed budget would boost key sectors, including health, social welfare, agriculture, and employment.

“The passage of the budget would facilitate investment in health and social welfare, increase agricultural production, and improve the creation of jobs,” Tinubu stated.
