In an awe-inspiring show of unity and determination, women from Nasarawa state took to the streets of Lafia, the state capital, on Thursday, undeterred by a relentless downpour, to extend their heartfelt applause to President Bola Tinubu for his astute selection of Iman Suleiman Ibrahim as a Minister Designate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Iman Suleiman, a proud representative of Nasarawa State, was nominated by President Tinubu and subsequently confirmed by the Senate on Monday. This surprising turn of events has captivated the attention of many.
Habiba Balarabe Suleiman, the Director General and Focal Person of the Human Capital Development Agency Nasarawa state, spoke on behalf of the women during their visit to the Government House.
She hailed President Tinubu for identifying a woman of unparalleled competence, a nurturing mother, and a dedicated representative who will not only champion the interests of Nigeria but also the aspirations of the Nasarawa people.
Habiba further expressed appreciation for the unwavering support of Governor Engr Abdullahi Sule, lauding his “woman-friendly governance style.”
She acknowledged the pivotal role the governor, often dubbed the “women governor” for his responsiveness, must have played in this remarkable nomination.
Responding on behalf of the governor, Jibrin Giza, the Permanent Secretary of the Government House, extended his gratitude to the resolute women and assured them that their message would reach both the governor and the presidency.
Giza emphasized the governor’s elation at the sight of the immense crowd and assured continued dedication to serving the people for a more robust democracy in the state.
Abigail Waya, the Nasarawa state Head of Service, also lent her voice to the chorus of approval for Iman Suleiman’s nomination. Waya deemed it a divine decree and believed that this nomination stands as an unprecedented blessing for Nasarawa state.
Blessing Ebuga Julius, the APC Women Leader in the state expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Tinubu for nominating one of their own. Blessing praised the capacity and abilities of what Iman Suleiman will bring to the table, underscoring the importance of representation.
