Governor Abdullahi Sule has appointed Muhammed Isah Eya as the new Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Nasarawa State.
Isah Eya, who hailed from Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state, until his appointment as PS, was Director, Planning, Research and Statistics at the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board.
The Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Lucky Yargwa presented him to other members of staff at the ministry’s conference hall Lafia. Welcoming the new PS, Yargwa said it is time for the ministry to experience a new look as the former commissioner was only covering but with the appointment of a substantive permanent secretary the ministry will now experience a smooth run of affairs.
He further advised the staff of the ministry to respect senior staff and ensure they carry out directives as given by the permanent Secretary.
“I want to urged you the new permanent secretary to apply civil service rules against anyone in the ministry who float decisions or directives, ensure things are done properly so as to instilled discipline in the ministry “
Yargwa appreciated the permanent Secretary for accepting to be part of the team of the ministry, prayed that his wealth of experience would be manifested during his time in the ministry.
Prior to the handing over of the ministry’s document to the new permanent secretary, outgoing covering permanent Secretary, Musa Abubakar, who served for eight months appreciated the commissioner and the government of Nasarawa State for the opportunity given to him to serve for a few periods.
While promising to work effectively with the new commissioner, he however, pleaded with major stakeholders, especially, staff of the ministry of youth and sports development for forgiveness in areas he may have offended them in the cause of carrying out his duties.
“I want to sincerely plead with members of staff and stakeholders to forgive me in any way I may have offended you in the cause of discharging my duties, leadership is difficult sometimes we do those things to ensure that the right thing is done. He said.
On his part, the new permanent secretary, Mr. Muhammed Isah Eya appreciates the government of Nasarawa State for this task given to him while promising to work with the already existing structures in the ministry.
He however, pleaded for team work, noting that he is a person who believed in team spirit considering his past record from where he is coming from.
He highlighted that the aim of the ministry should be based on the vision and mission hence must know “where we were, where do we intend to go, how do we go there and what do we intend to achieve,” he stressed.
He promised to do his best for the period he will be at the ministry for his impact to be felt, while urging other members of staff to give him all the maximum support to ensure the smooth day -to -day running of the ministry.
