Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police Maiyaki Muhammed Baba, representing Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, handed over cheques totaling forty-two million, one hundred and sixty-three thousand, six hundred and eighty-six naira, twelve kobo (#42,163,686.12) to twenty families of fallen and injured police officers.
In a police press release signed by DSP Ramhan Nansel send to journalist on Thursday stated that the emotional ceremony took place as part of the initiative by the Inspector-General of Police Group Personal Accident and Group Life Assurance.
The generous initiative aims to uplift the quality of life for families affected by the loss of their loved ones who were dedicatedly serving the community. The compensation extends not only to the families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty but also to those officers who sustained injuries while discharging their critical responsibilities.
Commissioner Baba expressed his deepest sympathies to the beneficiaries, acknowledging the sacrifices made by the fallen and injured officers. He lauded the Inspector-General of Police for his unwavering commitment to humanity and recognized his efforts in providing support and relief to families affected by the loss of their brave officers.
Highlighting the importance of prudent financial management, Commissioner Baba urged the beneficiaries to consider investing the compensation in ventures that promise profitability.
