Proceeding at the Nasarawa State Governorship Election Tribunal, yesterday, took a dramatic turn as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) continued its presentation of evidence, which revealed shocking discrepancies in the 2023 governorship/House of Assembly election results.
Dr. David Ombugadu and the PDP called the Gayam Ward Collation Agent of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) to the stand, who testified that the Governorship section of the summary sheet (Form EC8B) did not accurately reflect the actual votes obtained from the respective Polling Units in the Ward.
The witness, identified as PW12, presented compelling evidence and disclosed that he refused to sign the Collation Summary for the Governorship race due to glaring disparities. The evidence included results from the 58 polling units in Gayam Ward, showing incorrect vote transfers into the Collation Summary for the Nasarawa Governorship election, suggesting vote manipulation.
Furthermore, the Tribunal heard from the Chiroma Ward Agent of the Action Alliance, identified as PW13, who testified about discrepancies in the collation of results from Polling Units in Chiroma Ward into the Ward Collation Summary sheet (Form EC8B) for Lafia Local Government Area. The Petitioners called two Polling Unit Agents, designated as PW14 and PW15, who supported the claims of discrepancies in the election process.
In another related development, the Governorship Election Tribunal in Lafia witnessed significant developments on Tuesday as four key witnesses testified before the court. The witnesses made startling claims that results from several Polling Units were not duly entered into the required Form EC8B, as mandated by electoral laws.
The ongoing tribunal is examining the petition filed by Dr. David Emmanuel Ombugadu, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who challenged the outcome of the March 18 governorship election in the state. As the proceedings continued, more evidence was presented in support of the petitioner’s case, which was admitted by the Tribunal as exhibits.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) produced additional documents in compliance with the tribunal’s subpoena, further bolstering the petitioner’s claims.
One of the witnesses testified that election results from a particular Polling Unit were not computed into the corresponding Form EC8B, raising concerns about potential manipulation.
