Galatasaray made a €65 million offer to Napoli for in-form Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen but the offer appeared to have been rejected by Napoli, according to reports from Corriere dello Sport and La Repubblica,
Napoli rejected the offer, stating that the only way to complete the transfer was to pay the release clause in Osimhen’s contract.
The reports indicate that Osimhen’s previous release clause was €120 million, but this amount was reduced in his recent contract extension. Napoli has made it clear that it will not entertain any further reductions under any circumstances.
It was mentioned that the €75 million figure was specifically for Galatasaray. Since the team paid a rental fee of €6 million, the total current fee available for other clubs is €81 million. In June, it was reported that Osimhen’s release clause would be €75 million for all clubs.
Napoli President Aurelio de Laurentiis is determined to sell Osimhen but is not willing to offer any discounts. He closely monitors Osimhen’s performance and has decided to wait until the summer transfer window.
Corriere dello Sport quoted De Laurentiis to have said: “Osimhen will complete the
season on loan in Istanbul and Napoli will evaluate his future in the summer.”
Additionally, the sale of Kvaratskhelia for €70 million has provided the club with financial relief, allowing the Italian team to take its time with Osimhen’s potential sale.
So far this season, Osimhen has scored 16 goals and provided 5 assists in 20 official matches for Galatasaray.
