The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) have thrown their weight behind the forthcoming Insurance Meets Tech (IMT) confab, which focusses on Nigerian youths and industry policies.
Slated for September 11, 2025, in Lagos, this fourth edition of IMT would deliver a dual-experience format: IMT 4.0, the flagship C-suite and policy-focused discourse, and IMT Redefined 2.0, a youth- forward segment.
With the theme, “Innovating for the New Trybe,” the session will convene stakeholders across the financial, tech, and creative ecosystems, redefining how insurance meets digital innovation, lifestyle, and Africa’s future economy.
The convener and Chief Executive Officer of Modion Communications, Mr. Odion Aleobua, expressed delight over the development.
He assured that the session would also continue to explore the role of predictive technology, embedded insurance, disruptive underwriting, and inclusive innovation. He stressed that with engaging panels, immersive workshops, product demos, and youth-led showcases, the event promises actionable insights and bold ideas for building relevance in a shifting risk landscape. “The Insurance Meets Tech (IMT) conference is one of West Africa’s leading platforms for exploring the future of insurance through the lens of technology, innovation, and culture. In its fourth year, IMT offers a robust, multi-stakeholder, two-pronged experience featuring IMT 4.0, focused on C-suite insights, and IMT Redefined, a dynamic youth engagement segment inspired by innovation, lifestyle and creativity” he added.
Reacting, the headline speaker, Per Lagerström, a global thought leader confirmed, “Financial services are undergoing rapid and fundamental change, driven by AI inflection and BehaviorTech advances, blurring industry boundaries and shifting consumer behaviours. The result places incumbent business models under tremendous pressure and create unrivaled opportunities for growth and value creation. I am excited to join the year’s edition of IMT to unpack the forces at work and share my playbook for navigating these extraordinary times” he promised.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Insurance, Olusegun Omosehin; and the President of Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, had earlier in the year lauded IMT transformative role in accelerating digital adoption and innovation in Nigeria’s insurance sector.
By advancing tech-driven insurance in Nigeria, the endorsement of the two insurance giants is a proof that when regulators, practitioners, and technologists unite, a digital and inclusive insurance ecosystem that serves every Nigerian can be built.
“Digital innovation is no longer optional; it is essential to the growth and relevance of insurance in today’s Nigeria. Platforms like Insurance Meets Tech are not just forums for discussion; they are engines of disruption that are modernising how we engage with the insuring public. I want to commend the Convener for this disruptive idea, calling all to embrace technology and build the trust necessary to deepen insurance penetration across all strata of society,” CFI said.
Mrs Ilori added: “The work being done by Insurance Meets Tech is reshaping how our industry operates—breaking traditional boundaries and creating room for innovation, particularly among younger, tech-savvy consumers.”
“This initiative is giving the insurance sector a much-needed edge, increasing acceptance and relevance while driving sustainable impact on the economy. It is clear that the future of our profession depends on how well we integrate digital tools and think into every facet of our operations”.
