The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has successfully completed the airlift of relief materials donated by Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, to flood victims in Maiduguri, Borno State.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, on Thursday in Abuja. According to the statement, the relief materials, provided under the “Renewed Hope Agenda,” were transported from Abuja to Maiduguri on Wednesday aboard a NAF C-130 aircraft.
The donation, aimed at providing relief to communities affected by the devastating floods in Maiduguri on September 10, included food items, clothing, sanitary essentials, and toys for children.
The materials were received in Maiduguri by NAF officers led by the Air Component Commander of Operation HADIN KAI, before being handed over to the Borno State government for distribution to the flood victims.
“This mission highlights the NAF’s dedication to providing timely humanitarian assistance, particularly in regions severely impacted by natural disasters,” Akinboyewa stated.
He also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the First Lady’s office and the NAF, noting that it underscores the significance of collective efforts to ease the suffering of those affected by the flood in Borno State.
The NAF had previously launched a medical outreach programme and provided food for over 2,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Borno State in response to the flood crisis.
