Sandra Okunzuwa is a talented Nollywood actress, a lawyer, and a humanitarian who has earned recognition for her hard work and dedication in the highly competitive Nigerian movie industry.
In a recent interview with Saturday Sun, the filmmaker, who was born in Edo State, disclosed that her past experiences had caused her to develop resentment towards men. However, she has now moved past that phase and is looking forward to settling down someday.
Listing what she expects from any man that would win her heart, ‘The Secret Love’ star actress said, “A man who loves me, caring, patient, kind, not controlling, not abusive, trusting, hardworking and supportive. Above all, loves God. Although I haven’t pictured myself marrying a colleague, I am not against it. I’m not afraid of marriage. It is indeed a beautiful thing when you are with your right partner. I will get married to my perfect partner someday. There was a time my past traumatic experience as a young girl made me resent men but I have healed from it and moved on.”
Speaking on her parents’ reaction when she dumped her Law Certificate for filmmaking, Okunzuwa recalled, “Like every regular African parent, they wished I practiced as a lawyer but I had to prove to them that I am passionate about entertainment. They had to let me do what makes me happy and be supportive. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon. My parents were average-class and super hard-working business people. I worked my way up with the hardworking drive that I have emulated. As a child, I didn’t have all that I wanted which is why I’m working so hard, so my kids won’t lack anything.”
