Saraphina Onyekachi Amaechi is a renowned Nollywood actress known for her versatility and captivating performances. She has solidified her place in the industry. Born in Imo State, Sarraphina shares her journey, friendships, and future aspirations in this exclusive interview.
Can you tell us more about Sarraphina, the other side your fans don’t know about?
I am a very soft-hearted person and can hardly hold a fight. Though I appear to be very tough and mean most times, but when people get closer, they will understand that I am not mean. But it’s not that very easy to get my attention.
How long have you been doing movies?
Since 2003. I produced my first movie in 2005 called, My Sister’s Blood, featuring Mike Ezuruonye, Oge Okoye, Mary Uranta, Clarion Chukwura, Fabian Adibe and myself. It was directed by Ikechukwu Onyeka. I also produced Power Byk, featuring Yemi Black, Uche Jombo, Eve Esin, Sarraphina Amaechi and Nkechi, who acted as Nurse Titi.
How did your journey into the industry start?
It started more like a dream come through. I had always loved acting, and the universe offered me that opportunity when I shot my very first scene in the movie called “Daddy Must Obey.’’ After that, my talent for acting was fully exposed to the right audience.
What’s your most challenging role and why?
My most difficult role was acting as a pastor’s wife. I had to quote Bible verses and then the death scene. I felt very uneasy whenever I found myself in the position of putting on the death act.
You are a producer as well as an actress, which one is more challenging?
Both come with their challenges, but producing a movie comes with a lot of engagement: you need to put up with the whole movie crew, from the artists down to the cameramen.
Can you mention some of the movies you have produced?
My Sister’s Blood, The Legion, White Escort, Devils Harem, When She Came, Tears of Olaedo, Angel in Hell, Amuma mmiri, Dorcas, Mgbechi etc
You have such a beautiful body. Is it natural or liposuction?
My body is 100 per cent natural. I have had a lot of my fans thinking my boobs are perhaps not real, but they are real. I have never gone under the knife, for beauty’s sake.
What’s the most priceless part of your body?
My boobs.
What makes Saraphina stand out in Nollywood?
I am significant and possess certain special characteristics and qualities that make me stand out. One of those qualities is my magnificent boobs.
It is easily noticed that you don’t have lots of Nollywood friends, why?
I do. It is just that I don’t allow the friendship to take a visible turn on me.
There is this general belief that actresses can’t keep a home. What’s your take on that?
I disagree. We actresses can make a good home because we are very sensitive to how we move, act and relate with people. It helps us to mostly stay locked in with our partners or families, as the case may be.
Can you list out what you want and expect to see from a “husband material”?
Consistency, love, stability, principled and exposed.
Love, sex and money which comes first for you and why?
Love comes first for me anytime.
Nollywood is now filled with single mums and baby mamas. Does it make you scared of marriage?
No! Not all. I’ll get married at the right time.
Are you single and ready to mingle?
I am single right now, but very soon, I will get married to the man God sent from above. God has told me that he is going to send down a cute man from heaven who would love and care for me just like I deserve.
Do you have a child yet?
No, I don’t have a child yet. It’s not in our culture to have a child outside wedlock.
What are the changes you expect to see in Nollywood in the next couple of years?
Nollywood needs to build up its stand in the entertainment industry and also raise new acts. Most importantly, there should be more reality obtained acting like our sensitive scenes.
