My administration will be unwavering in supporting NYSC scheme – Fubara

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has assured the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme of his administration’s unwavering support. He emphasised their role in “positively moulding the attitude of graduate youths and leaders of tomorrow.”

Governor Fubara gave this assurance on Tuesday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area, while presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch B Stream 1 Corps members deployed to the state.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Hamilton Amadi, Governor Fubara assured the Corps members of his commitment to tackling youth unemployment.

He expressed optimism that the NYSC’s Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme would contribute significantly to the nation’s economic resurgence. He praised the programme’s design, which empowers Corps members and promotes self-sustainability.

Earlier, the Rivers State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. George Mfongang, commended the Corps members for their dedication to nation-building over the past 51 years.

He urged them to view their mobilisation into national service as a privilege. He encouraged them to strive for unity, socio-economic development, peace, and prosperity within the nation.

The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi, represented by Justice Opufaa Ben-Whyte, administered the Oath of Allegiance to the 1,771 Corps members at the colourful ceremony.
