The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has demanded an immediate investigation into the alleged murder of a 300-level student of the Faculty of Education at the University of Port Harcourt, Godwin Francis Akpakpan.

The late Akpakpan was alleged to have been arrested by some men dressed in police uniform during a stop-and-search in Port Harcourt recently.

NANS claimed that the incident occurred while the deceased was returning from his brother’s lounge on the night of Tuesday, April 16, 2025.

Chairman, NANS Rivers State Joint Campus Council, Comrade Jokiel Gideon Chinonso, who spoke in Port Harcourt, said while the late Akpakpan was in the custody of the police officers after his arrest and was being driven away, an altercation ensued between them (police) and some men dressed in military uniform.
