Three more members of the House of Representatives elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), yesterday, defected to the All Progressives Congress ( APC).
The three members, Abdullahi Balarabe, Aliyu Iliyasu Abubakar and Salisu Majigiri, who are from Katsina State, announced their defection during yesterday’s plenary, in separate letters read by the speaker, Tajudeen Abbas.
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda and one of his predecessors, Ibrahim Shema, and other APC leaders from the state were in the chamber to witness the defection.
The cross-carpeting by the trio, who blamed their defection on alleged crisis in the PDP, brings the number of opposition lawmakers that have defected in the 10th assembly to 27.
While 24 of the defectors from the opposition joined the APC, two lawmakers elected on the platform of Labour Party joined the PDP, while a Young Progressives Party ( YPP) member crossed over to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
